This will be a list based upon solid scholarship and archival research. A mailing list primarily for descendants of the Germanna Colonies which were the original German settlements under Governor Spotswood that were established near Fort Germanna in what is now Madison and Orange Counties, Virginia. There were two colonies established in 1714 and 1717 with some "latecomers" arriving from 1719 to about 1735. Also, anyone researching their German heritage is welcome.   188. WDC-GenWeb. A read-only mailing list for those interested in the World Descendant Charts (WDC) Genealogy Web Project. The WDC specializes in Virginia and West Virginia families and posts descendant charts received from contributors on the WDC GenWeb Project Home Page. This notification will have the name of the descendant chart as the subject and will include the URL for the chart and a list of all surnames contained in the chart.
