ROUND GROVE SCHOOL 1892
The Round Grove School was located two miles east and one mile north of Ridgeway, Missouri. The building in the photo was the second on the site... the first was a small log cabin. The school also served as a community meeting place, voting location and at times a church. The school was closed in 1921 when the area was incorporated into the Ridgeway School District. Those known to be in the photo are: Jesse Whisler, Ada Billups, Pearl Provin, Millie Whisler, Seba Harrison, Orpha Whisler, Alfred Grant, Amar Loy, Lenna Provin, Omar Provin, Bill Loy, Carl Maxwell, Edgar Grant, Ollie Harrison (teacher), Minnie Grant, Fred Grant, Roy Grant and Grover Harvey. Laura Ann Neff (b. 1880) is the girl in the center of the next to back row. Her sister, Elsie Ada Neff, b. 1882) is the girl on the far right, (the blurred image). Brothers Isaac Henry Neff and Jesse Leon Neff may also be in this picture.

The boy in the background with the big straw hat is David. His father (Joab Chambers) had given him the twin bull calves for his birthday, which he trained to pull the cart. The man in the cart who was passing through Cainsville and was unknown to him, gave David a quarter to let him have his picture taken with the calves and cart.
