1850 United States Federal Census July 11, 2005 7:18 AM
NOTE: In looking at the Census image it appears that Martin's surname was written DARRELL, as might have been his wife, Margaret who was born in Kentucky. Appears that Census Enumerator may have gotten sloppy in writing and the "A" gave the appearance of an "O". The youngest of 8 children was named William. The Census was dated abt 29 Sept. 1850. The William was listed as 1/12 years old. It is possible that YOUR William fudged his age on his Civil War papers.
In 1830 Linn County had yet to become to be, and was still a part of Chariton County. In 1840, only a small SE corner of Linn County was still in Chariton County. By 1850, Linn County boundaries were permanently established. kk
