KING

 

 

The Laclede Blade Newspaper, June 16, 1944 issue for death of Charles W. King:

 

   Charles W. King passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bert VanDyke Friday, July 21, 1944, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 14 days. Mr. King was a resident of Laclede many years the past four years living with his daughter and family.

   He was born in Sullivan County, Missouri, November 7, 1863.  Was united in marriage with Miranda Belle Brinkley, June 7, 1884, who passed away some years ago. To this union six children were born, two preceding him in death.

   He leaves to mourn besides the daughter, three sons, Virgil and Frank of Laclede and Michael of Brookfield.  Two sisters, Mrs. Tina Walker of Browning and Mrs. Will Walker of Ethel.   Also seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One grandson, Francis King, is in the armed service and is stationed at Camp Hood, Texas.

   Funeral was held Monday at White Oak Church north of Browning, the services being conducted by Rev. W. R. Adams, and burial was in the White Oak Cemetery by the Thorne service.

The Laclede Blade Newspaper, March 18, 1938 issue for death of Mrs. King:

 

   Mrs. C. W. King, resident of this city for a number of years, passed away at the home Sunday afternoon, March 13, following a long illness.

   Miranda Belle Brinkley was born near Milan, Missouri, May 21, 1867. She was united in marriage to C. W. King, June 7, 1884. To this union six children were born, two preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn, her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Bert VanDyke of Laclede; three sons, Virgil and Frank of the home and Michael of Brookfield; also five grandchildren and one great grand child; three brothers, Hampton Brinkley of Laclede; James Brinkley, Cora; Ambers Brinkley, Browning; two sisters, Mrs. Delia Turner, Cora and Mrs. Emma Bradley of Miami, Florida.

   Funeral services were held at White Oak Church near Cora Tuesday, conducted by Rev. Nelson of Brookfield and burial in the White Oak Cemetery by Director Thorne.

Brookfield Daily News-Bulletin, February 1, 1990 issue

 

   Ethel King, 89, Laclede, died Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 30, 1990) at Brookfield Nursing Center.

   She was born Sept. 22, 1900, in Linn County, daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth (Cornett) Stufflebean. She and Frank King were married April 10, 1917. He died Jan. 20, 1963.

   Surviving are a son, Francis King, Cape Fair; a granddaughter, Judy Sands, Las Vegas, Nev.; a great grandson and great granddaughter, Rick Sands and Cheryl Carson, both of Topeka, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Freda King, Brookfield; six nephews and two nieces. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

   Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Laclede, with the Rev. Dallas Williams officiating. Burial will be in Laclede Cemetery. Visitation is in progress at the funeral home; the family will receive friends there from 7 to 8 tonight.

   She was a member of the Florence chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Brookfield, and the Civic Club and American Legion Auxiliary, both of Laclede. She had been a member of the old Laclede Christian Church.

Brookfield Daily News Bulletin, January 21, 1963 issue

King Funeral Services to be held Tuesday (Jan. 22, 1963).

  

 Frank King, 67, Laclede, (born 28 Oct. 1895 in Cora), died last night at Doctors'  Osteopathic Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wright Funeral Home in Laclede, conducted by the Rev. Louis Belcher, with burial in the Laclede Cemetery.

   Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel King, of the home; a son, Francis M. King, Cape Fair, Mo.; a granddaughter and a great grandson; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Van Dyke, Kansas City; two brothers, Michael King, Brookfield, and Virgil King, Cape Fair.
