“was born in Howard county, Missouri, January 1, 1820.  Mr. Arnold has been a farmer all his life; as early as 1839 he came to Linn county, and is one of the early settlers and prosperous farmers; he has made by his own exertions a splendid farm of three hundred and twenty acres.  He was married in Linn county September 12, 1844, to Miss Susan Brown, daughter of Henry T. and Mildred Brown.  They have five children, John H., James L., Annie M., Millard C., and Margaret P.  Mrs. Arnold died December 14, 1867.  She was a lady loved and respected by all, and ws a kind mother and a loving wife, and left many friends to mourn her loss.”
