The following is a description of the genealogical resource holdings of the Scotland County Library based on information provided by members of the Scotland County Genealogical Society. Newspapers on microfilm:
The Library has a collection consisting of issues from twelve different newspapers that were published at one time or another in Scotland County.
Memphis Reveille. The September 1865 issues of the Memphis Reveille are the earliest. There are fourteen rolls of microfilm for the Reveille, covering the years until it ceased publication in 1970. Some of the earliest years are missing and some years are incomplete.
Memphis Democrat. Issues of the Memphis Democrat include October 1880 through October 1881, and 1905-1996. There is no Democrat for 1914 or for 1974.
Gorin State News.There are issues of the Gorin State News from March 1903 through 1912.
Gorin Argus. Issues of the Gorin Argus cover a period from March 1931 through September 1972.
Other Newspapers. Other newspapers include issues for the years 1873 through 1898 and 1901 through 1904.

In addition to the above, the Lillian Craig Genealogy Room of the Scotland County Library includes many books and records pertaining to other Missouri counties and to other states.
Missouri Pioneers was a publication of county and genealogical records compiled by Miss Nadine Hodges and Mrs. Howard W. Woodruff. Mrs. John Vineyard was also listed as a compiler on the first few volumes. Scotland County Library has numerous volumes of Missouri Pioneers, including Vol. I, published in 1967.
