I am looking for more info on the following family members: Martha Louella SALMON b 4 Nov 1871 in Harrison Co, Missouri; married Cyrus Henrick FRANCIS. Martha's parents believed to be Jacob SALMON b 1833 and Mary Ann DANIEL. My notes only states that Martha was the 6th child of Jacob and Mary Ann SALMON. Martha and Cyrus had a daughter Hazel FRANCIS born 12 July 1897, d 15 Nov 1982 Pattonsburg, Daviess Co, Missouri, burial at New Hope Cemetery, Harrison Co, Missouri. She was born in Eagleville, Missouri, Harrison County in 1886. My Mother Violet Marie MILLER was born in Bethany Missouri, Harrison County, November 30,1923. I am researching the family of John D.HART and his wife Mary Frances BANTA. John was born June 1858 and died in Harrison County in 1944. He was a district county judge from 1917-1926. He farmed about six miles north of Eaglesville, Harrison County. MO. Mary, born in 1859, died in Harrison County in July of 1896. KERNS; enlisted in Union army at Iowa City, Iowa, on Aug 18,1862, was discharged at Davenport, IA on Feb 12,1864; moved to farm north of Mt Moriah, Harrison Co. Married Jennie CARRINGTON. I am searching for information about my great grandfather James A. SEVIER. I believe he was born in Kentucky, but lived in Harrison County Mo. where all his children and grandchildren were born. He had a cemetery lot in Bethany but it was moved due to land development north of Bethany across a river called Big Creek. His second wife's name was Edna FALLIS. Their children were James William, Annie, Joseph, and Charles. Joseph lived in St. Joseph, Mo. and had no children. Charles had two children, Jack and Irene. My grandfather, James William SEVIER 1862-1948 was born in Bethany Mo and was the sheriff there from 1898 till 1902. My father was Martin Joseph SEVIER,1888-1971.

I am searching for information on the William Rice BANTA family. William, was born 1820 in KY. He married Eliza Ware, (born VA, 1820) in IL, July 23, 1846 and moved to Harrison County, MO from DeWitt County, Ill. William Rice BANTA died in 1861 and he is buried in Harrison County. They had at least six children. I am interested in time of Eliza's death and where they are buried and if any ancestors are living in the area. Samuel CUMMINGS b. 31 May 1844 in MO m. Mary E. TOOMBS 7 December 1865 in Harrison Co., MO and had a son (name unknown) January 1867, Harrison Co., MO. On the 1880 Census for same county this child does not show, but Cora Belle HENRY is listed as 2 years of age, b. MO and an orphan. Cora m. Leander A. (aka Lee) TOOMBS 18 Aug 1897. Mary E. TOOMBS was sister of Leander's father, George W. TOOMBS. I am seeking information on the CUMMINGS family, including burial site. They died in Harrison Co., MO; Samuel in 1907 and Mary in 1921. I would also like to know whether a court order was done adopting Cora HENRY and what may have happened to her parents. Since the courthouse burned down before she was born, are birth certificates available for the 1878 timeframe and where? Andrew WHITE & Naomi (JOYCE) lived in Harrison Co. and their daughter Almeda married Abner JOHNSON. Their daughter Elizabeth Jane, was born 1 June 1880, and I found them living in White Oak Twp. that year. I think Abner's father was Moses JOHNSON. I found Andrew WHITE in the 1870 MO census. If anyone can connect to either of these families I would appreciate some info. The JOHNSON family moved to WA state sometime after 1888 or 1890. One of their sons was Grover JOHNSON.JOYCE

James MURPHY married Nance E (unknown) in Butler, Harrison MO in approx 1871 and had a son, Ferdinand (went by Fred), born in Butler in 1872. I understand that the courthouse burned in 1874, and I assume that's where all the records would have been kept. Fred is my gg-grandfather and has proven to be very elusive. He married Ida Caraway of Gentry Co, MO sometime before 1897 and settled in Pattonsburg, Daviess Co, MO. Anyone have any clues or know to where I might track the birth or marriage records? Thanks!!

I have information that my Grandmother Rosa CLUTTER LAMPHEAR was born in 1871 at Bethany MO to Jackson CLUTTER and Mary Ann KIGLEY. I am in search of information on my grandparents, Stephen PILCHER and Emma KERNS. Last known address was Melbourne (Harrison County), Mo. Emma passed on in 1944. (Stephen's death date unknown.) I'm looking for information on a James and Martha A. CLARK who were in Harrison County in the 1860 census, Dallas Township. I descend from their daughter Elizabeth who married George MERANDA in Scott County, Indiana. I believe they were in Harrison County at one time, also, as my great-grandmother Amanda may have been born there from some records I have located. There is an older George MERANDA in the county that was a half-uncle to my George.

They lived there from 1867 until they moved to Michigan in about 1873. I would like to know how to get birth records, census reports etc to document their stay in Missouri.

April 25,1868 was when my grandfather, Levi VANCE, married Minerva I. BRUNER in Logan Co. Ill. They then moved to Harrison Co., Mo. Levi & Minerva had a daughter, Ada VANCE, b.July 23,1876. Minerva died at Ridgeway, Harrison Co., Mo. in 1877. Levi went on to marry Lydia C. BARCUS, March 4, 1880. They had a son, John W. VANCE, April 19, 1881. Lydia also died in Ridgeway, Harrison Co., and Levi next married Mary E. LEE in 1885, who died April 13, 1889.

Looking for decendents of Tefronia REYNOLDS. Her parents were Edward and Lucinda (Cindy) REYNOLDS. They met and married in Indiana and their children were: Berry REYNOLDS, died when young; Jobe REYNOLDS; Tefronia REYNOLDS; (boy) REYNOLDS, died when young. Newton H. LUELLEN, my great grandfather, was born in either August or October 26, 1868 near Bethany in Harrison County, Missouri. He was married to Christina Belle MORGAN, November 20, 1890 in Harrison County. Christina Belle MORGAN was born on June 10, 1869 in Harrison County. Their four children were Jessie, Joseph, Lula and my grandfather, Clarence. Newton had two brothers, Oliver and Sam and one sister, Annie Edwards. I am looking for any information on Jacob LITTLE b. 27 Oct 1850, d. 14 Jan 1941; m. Rebecca ATTERBURY b. 16 Jun 1844, d. 24 May 1927. They are both buried at Springer Cemetery in Harrison Co. They had at least two children. Izora b. 23 Oct 1874, d. 30 Dec 1952 and married Erastus GRIFFIN. Both are buried in Springer Cemetery.
The other child that I know about is my great grandfather John LITTLE d. 1936 and married Rosa Belle Brown. They are also buried in Springer Cemetery. They had four children: Jake, Dorothy, Nona and my grandfather Cloyd. Cloyd was born in Harrison Co. and married Sylvia O. HUDSON b. in Harrison Co. MO. Sylvia's parents were Hardin C.S. HUDSON and Sarah E. HART. The Hudsons buried at Cat Creek Cemetery are all related to her. J.A. BRITTAIN was interred in Ridgeway, MO. in 1906. He had resided in the Ridgeway area from the late 1850's until 1880. He had one son, Orlando BRITTAIN. His wife was named Sarah. The family migrated from Indiana to Missouri. Then the family moved to Kansas until his death. In the 1870 census a family by the name of Andrew STANLEY was living on one side and WILSON on the other. By old correspondence it appears that these families are related and were all from Indiana. Does anyone have information on any of these families? I am trying to come up with the maiden name of the wife of J. A. Brittain.

Looking for a Thomas CASSADAY (sp. also CASADY or CASADA). Thomas' wife was Elizabeth. They were near Cainsville from about 1860 to 1875. Thomas and Elizabeth separated because of religion. Their daughter married John Thomas STALLSWORTH of Harrison County. Their son Adam m. Fanny MARSHALL. They also had a daughter who m. a William BUNNY. The 1870 census of Harrison County has Thomas CASSADAY and his grandson Joseph BUNNY living with William and Lucinda ZIMMERMAN. I know that Lucinda was kin to the STALLSWORTHS. Is it possible they had a connection to the CASSADAYS also?

RUFF, George Washington married Narcissus Cora Bell MOSS on 1 July 1894 in Grant, MO. He is my husband's grandfather. George and Cora raised a large family, with many of the children being born in Mt. Moriah from 1909 to abt. 1914. Researching George W. RUFF, and his father, John ROUGH of Bethany, MO. John Rough came from England and died on 19 April 1892 in Bethany. It appears the family was located in Harrison County for many years. Any help would be greatly appreciated. GIBSON, John Snow, born in IL between 1837 and 1844. His parents were born in England. He received a land patent in Harrison County, MO, Feb. 20, 1857. He married Eliza MYERS, born in the Joplin area of MO. Her birth date will be between 1840 and 1854. Her father may have been born in Scotland or Missouri, but is said to have spoken with a Scottish accent. Her mother is said to have been part Cherokee Indian. My 2nd g-grandfather Franklin GRAHAM died in Harrison Co, MO 22 Dec 1867. He had been a resident of the county for over 10 years. He was born 23 Nov 1816 in Boone Co, MO, md. 7 May 1835 in Jackson Co, MO to Parthena Isabella CRABTREE, daughter of William and Elizabeth (COMBS) CRABTREE. She was the twin sister of Arrena Elizabeth CRABTREE who md. Hugh PATTEN in Jackson Co, MO.
Franklin was the son of William GRAHAM and Mary "Polly" Anna WHITECOTTON. William was born abt 1770 in Dublin, Ireland and came to VA at the age of 16 with two of his brothers, John and George. He was first married in VA, but his first wife is unknown as of 2/99. By her he had two sons, John and Robert, both born in KY. At the end of the War of 1812, William was already in the Missouri Territory, near Columbia. His eldest son John, remained in Boone Co, while William and the rest of the family moved to Ray Co, MO. After his marriage Franklin lived near his father and mother until about 1854, when he moved to a farm in Harrison Co.

James JOHNSON born March 22, 1820 near Lexington KY. Died aft. 1888 in Harrison Co. MO. Married (1) Mahala SPURGEON (2) Elizabeth SPURGEON. Both wives are daughters of Amos SPURGEON and Elizabeth BURRIS. James came to MO. with his father Travers (Traves) JOHNSON in 1840 to Daviess-Harrison Co. Shortly after arriving he married Mahala, who died about 5 years later; also three children died about the some time. James and Mahala were in Butler TWP at the time. After the Civil war James married Elizabeth. At that time, he had 160 acres of land about 3 ½ miles outside of Bethany, Harrison Co. Mo.
Children of James Johnson and Elizabeth Spurgeon are:

Martha, died at age 5.
Hiram’s date of birth and the date of marriage for James and Elizabeth don’t match at all. Nor could Hiram be the son of Mahala, as she died before Hiram’s birth. Would like to visit with anyone that might have information on this family.

Henry Oliver HAMAKER and his wife, Eleanor HARKLESS, came to Harrison County after 1860. Henry was a miller, and had begun a successful mill in White Cloud, IA ca 1853 before moving on. He was born in Ohio in 1813 and probably died in MO. By the time he arrived in MO, all his children were grown (except Jacob), but their names were: Charles, George, John, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, and Jacob.
