Surname: PERRY, CHANDLER, KNOWLES/SPADER, SMITH, MAYFIELD, MILLER
Submitter: Michael Perry MoPerry@mac.com
Date: May 12, 2015
1870-1900. My great-great-grandfather William Harvey PERRY and his family moved from Fort Madison, Iowa, to Corydon, Iowa, about 1861. The family moved to Ravanna, Missouri, after 1870 but before 1880. William Harvey PERRY died in Ravanna in 1898 and is buried in the Ravanna Cemetery.
William Harvey Perry's wife, Martha Lydia PERRY, died in 1916 in California. She gave birth to 7 children: David M. PERRY (1855-1931), George Wesley PERRY (1857-1942), Ellen Rosetta Perry CHANDLER (1860-after 1920), Harriet L. Perry KNOWLES/SPADER (1861-after 1900), Charlotte M. PERRY (1864-??), Martha Lydia PERRY (1867-??), and Clara B. PERRY (1869-??). I believe Charlotte, Martha and Clara died in or near Mercer County before 1900, but don’t know if they ever married. Any information about the family would be greatly appreciated.
David M. PERRY married Julia A. SMITH in 1875 - in either Clinton, Iowa, or Ravanna, Missouri. Julia died in 1891 and is buried in the Ravanna Cemetery. They had five children - two of them (Ada R. PERRY and Elsie May PERRY) died in 1891 or 1892 and are buried in the Ravanna Cemetery. Soon after Julia, and their two daughters died, he took the three remaining children (Alice Lillian Perry MAYFIELD, Alfred Artly PERRY and Royal Clifton PERRY) to Pawnee, Oklahoma. David and his two sons moved to Oregon around 1920.
My great-grandfather, George Wesley PERRY, married Druzilla Elizabeth MILLER in Ravanna in 1879. They had three sons, all born in Mercer County: William P. PERRY (1880-1897), Lawrence Louis George PERRY (1881-1947), and Alvin Favoright PERRY (1885-1944). Alvin may have been adopted since his World War I draft registration card shows he was a Native American Indian. The family moved to Oregon in 1893.
Ellen Rosetta PERRY married James Marion CHANDLER in Ravanna, Missouri, in 1880. James and Ellen died in California around 1920. They had 7 children; two babies died in Ravanna before 1900. In addition, Loy CHANDLER died in Pike Co., Missouri, in 1904, Maud. S. CHANDLER died in Ravanna in 1904, and Louis Frank CHANDLER died in Ravanna before 1910. Any information about these families (and where they are buried) would be appreciated. Finding birth or marriage records would be wonderful.
Thank you!
